From South Bay to San Gabriel Valley, Andy & Renee have long ago lost track of how many shows they’ve played together, and though they have taken their poetic, pitch perfect...
...performances to stages across the world, LA’s South Bay is the home turf where they’ve established themselves as the best of the best for 3 decades, with 17 CDs having won them countless awards.
The Nextdoors, on the other hand, are a COVID creation, only having played their very first public shows in 2023 - but veteran wife & husband musicians Mika Larson and Russell Mark emerged kicking and swinging from their SGV hood, with a cover story in the Pasadena Weekly, and the Mayor of Pasadena Victor Gordo himself declaring the group one of the true gems of the city. Their unique, cello-soaked Americana debut album Linda Vista has been heard on radio dials across the country since its 2022 release.
Over the years the four musicians that make up these acts have traveled up and down the US-110 so many times to play with and support each other in all kinds of bands, festivals, video shoots, webcasts, special events, and fundraisers, that the trek from the South Bay to the SGV has taken on its own ritualistic pleasure.
These two acts come together at Coffee Gallery Backstage for a special evening of songs that reflect the uniqueness of their own slice of the Southland, and the endurance of their musical bonds. The night will include a Dylanfest Preview - they will play select Bob Dylan songs together to whet the audience’s appetite for Andy & Renee’s very own Dylan festival in May, which they have produced for 30+ years in Torrance, and which Mika and Russell have participated in for 2 decades.
