12/29/18 - An Evening with Rick Shea & Terry Klein

A special evening of finely crafted folk and Americana songs from seasoned Southland veteran Rick Shea and rising Austin, Texas star Terry Klein.

Longtime Southern California singer-songwriter Rick Shea got his early musical education in the bars and honky-tonks of San Bernardino. While you may often see him live with his worn old Telecaster, backing up the likes of Dave Alvin and Wanda Jackson or burning through a set of his own songs and a few honky-tonk standards, he's also built a solid career for himself as a solo artist, singer, guitarist and songwriter. With nine critically acclaimed albums, he’s performed all over Southern California, the West Coast and across the country and in Europe.

Shea's songs reflect the folk, country, rock and Mexican influences he grew up with. "Songs tell our stories and our history and songs were how those stories were shared in the past, I'd like to continue that tradition."

Terry Klein is a performing songwriter from Austin, Texas with an unshakable faith in the power of songs to heal, connect, and inspire. His 2017 debut record, Great Northern, drew accolades from master songwriters such as Rodney Crowell, Mary Gauthier, and Walt Wilkins. Songs from Great Northern have appeared on Folk and Americana radio stations across the United States and internationally and the record made multiple “Ten Best” lists for 2017. Terry draws on the genius of Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Guy Clark, and John Prine but he also looks to prose writers such as Chekhov, Flannery O'Connor, and David Foster Wallace, filmmakers like Wes Anderson, and painters like Edward Hopper for inspiration. Terry was selected as a New Folk Regional Finalist at the 2017 Kerrville Folk Festival and awarded an Official Showcase at the 2017 Southwest Regional Folk Alliance conference. Look for his follow up to Great Northern in early 2019.
