01/19/19 - Marty Axelrod: All Alone, with Friends!

Marty is going at it alone. All alone. But not alone, really. Because YOU and his friends will be there! You’ll hear new songs about self-driving cars and bubonic plague. And old favorites about cats and caves.

Marty Axelrod has trod the carpeted riser of the Coffee Gallery Backstage as a member of Tall Men Group, Spork and Foon, Mutual Admiration Society and Songs of Shiloh, as accompanist for myriad wonderful artists, and as solo performer in songwriter showcases.

But wait, there’s more! Very special guests! The one and only NICOLE GORDON will join Marty on four songs from their acclaimed cd SONGS OF SHILOH. On top of that (musically speaking), Zoe Axelrod will recreate her vocal harmonies from the cd.

Good show so far, eh? How about if we add a special appearance by the wonderful AIREENE ESPIRITU, to sing two morbidly funny duets she and Marty have written -- “I May Be Dead, But I’m Not Blind” and “Why Should the Living Have All the Fun?”

So all in all, a splendid January 19 evening at The Coffee Gallery Backstage. And though we can’t have alcohol there, let’s get a drink after!
